DE-CIX Asia posts significant growth in interconnection platforms

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) — Global internet exchange operator, DE-CIX registered an increase in the growth of its interconnection platforms and internet exchanges in Southeast Asia in 2022.

This includes a growth of over 38 per cent in connected customer capacity, including internet exchanges in key cities, led by Johor Bahru with the highest growth at 89 per cent.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur stands out with a remarkable 34 per cent increase in connected customer capacity, followed by Singapore and Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei at 31 per cent.

This is in line with the global growth of the DE-CIX Group AG, which reported a 29 per cent growth in connected capacity at internet exchanges and a 500 per cent growth in connected capacity to cloud service providers across the globe, it said in a statement today.

“As DE-CIX Asia is dedicated to maintaining our growth trajectory in the region, we take pride in our efforts in providing the best interconnection services for our customers, regardless if they are network providers, cloud service providers, or even enterprises.

“This is why we are always looking forward to forming more strategic and long-term partnerships to further innovate our services, solidifying our presence in the market,” said DE-CIX Malaysia board of management member Wong Weng Yew.

Last year, DE-CIX established a cooperation agreement with GetaFIX, the largest neutral internet exchange in the Philippines, adding another 40-plus network to the DE-CIX Asia interconnection platform.

The collaboration helped improve regional interconnectivity by providing seamless interconnection opportunities for more than 100 participants across markets in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines. – BERNAMA
