DE-CIX | JBIX
DE-CIX JBIX operates Internet Exchanges in Greater Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, supporting efficient traffic exchange for networks across Malaysia and the wider region. As part of the DE-CIX ASEAN network, it connects Malaysia’s digital ecosystem with other regional Internet Exchange nodes.

Our Heritage
DE-CIX JBIX was established in 2020 through a joint venture between DE-CIX Asia and Starwing Technologies Sdn Bhd, following the merger with Johor Bahru Internet Exchange (JBIX). Founded in 2018, JBIX launched its first Internet Exchange node at Menara MSC Cyberport in Johor Bahru, with the aim of helping Malaysian and regional telcos exchange traffic locally before routing traffic to Singapore. Within its first 12 months, JBIX grew rapidly, attracting more than 30 network participants and expanding its presence across Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.
Offices and general information
Founded in 1995, DE-CIX’s Internet Exchange in Frankfurt is the world’s leading interconnection platform, managing more than 12 Terabits per second peak traffic. In addition to Frankfurt, DE-CIX offers interconnection services at five more Internet Exchanges in Germany: in Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, and in Berlin where we cooperate with BCIX, as well as a DE-CIX as a Service partner exchange Ruhr-CIX in the Ruhr region.
Experience and know how taken abroad
In 2012, DE-CIX took abroad its specific know-how and experience in establishing and operating Internet Exchanges and now operates interconnection platforms in the following metro markets: In New York, Dallas, Chicago, Richmond, Phoenix, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Marseille, Istanbul, Palermo, Oslo, Kristiansand, Esbjerk, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Singapore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai. In addition, we cooperate with MSK-IX in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and have DE-CIX as a Service partner exchanges UAE-IX in Dubai, SEECIX in Athens, and Borneo-IX in Brunei as well as in three key markets in Africa: the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Libya, and Nigeria.
